Common Use
Questran is used to treat high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and reduce the risk of heart disease. It may also be prescribed to relieve itching caused by blockage of bile ducts. The medication is often used alongside diet and lifestyle changes.

Dosage and Direction
Dosage depends on the patient’s condition and response. Adults usually take the powder mixed with water or juice, one to four times daily. Take it exactly as prescribed, and do not skip doses. Stir well before drinking and rinse the glass to ensure the full dose is taken.

Precautions
Before using Questran, inform your doctor if you have bowel obstruction, digestive disorders, or pancreatitis. Adequate fluid intake is important to prevent constipation. Inform your healthcare provider of any other medications, as timing may affect absorption.

Contraindications
Do not use Questran if you have a complete bowel obstruction or are allergic to cholestyramine. Use cautiously in patients with severe constipation or other gastrointestinal problems.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include constipation, bloating, gas, or nausea. Rare but serious effects may involve bowel obstruction or vitamin deficiencies. Contact your doctor if severe or persistent symptoms occur.

Drug Interaction
Questran can interfere with the absorption of other medications such as warfarin, thyroid hormones, or fat-soluble vitamins. Take other medicines at least 1 hour before or 4–6 hours after Questran. Always inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.

Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose
An overdose may cause severe constipation, abdominal pain, or nausea. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected. Supportive care may be required to relieve symptoms.

Storage
Store Questran at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use the medication past its expiration date.
