Common Use
Celecoxib is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation associated with arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual cramps, and other conditions. It selectively inhibits COX-2, reducing inflammation while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects compared to traditional NSAIDs.

Dosage and Direction
Celecoxib is usually taken once or twice daily, with or without food. Common adult doses range from 100–200 mg, depending on the condition. It should be taken at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration needed. Do not crush or chew the capsules.

Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, liver or kidney impairment, or a history of ulcers or bleeding. Celecoxib may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events. Avoid alcohol and smoking, which can raise the risk of stomach bleeding.

Contraindications
Celecoxib is contraindicated in patients with sulfa allergy, history of NSAID-induced asthma, severe hepatic impairment, or recent coronary bypass surgery (CABG). Not recommended during late pregnancy due to risk of fetal harm.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include indigestion, diarrhea, headache, and high blood pressure. Serious but less common effects may include heart attack, stroke, kidney problems, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Seek immediate help for chest pain, shortness of breath, or signs of allergic reaction.

Drug Interaction
Celecoxib may interact with blood thinners (e.g., warfarin), diuretics, ACE inhibitors, lithium, and other NSAIDs. Inform your doctor of all medications and supplements you are taking to avoid adverse interactions.

Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. If it’s close to the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose.

Overdose
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, and bleeding. Seek immediate medical attention in case of suspected overdose.

Storage
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
