Common Use
Miralax is used for the relief of occasional constipation. It increases the amount of water in the intestinal tract, softening the stool and making it easier to pass. Bowel movement typically occurs within 1–3 days of use.

Dosage and Direction
The usual adult dose is 17 grams of powder dissolved in 4–8 ounces of water, juice, soda, coffee, or tea once daily. Stir until completely dissolved before drinking. Use no longer than 7 days unless directed by a healthcare provider.

Precautions
Consult your doctor before use if you have kidney disease, irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. Do not use if you have bowel obstruction. Stop use and seek medical advice if rectal bleeding or worsening symptoms occur.

Contraindications
Do not use Miralax if you are allergic to polyethylene glycol. It is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal obstruction.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects may include bloating, gas, nausea, or abdominal discomfort. Rarely, allergic reactions such as rash or itching may occur. Seek medical attention if severe diarrhea or persistent symptoms develop.

Drug Interaction
Significant drug interactions are unlikely due to minimal systemic absorption. However, inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you are taking.

Missed Dose
Miralax is usually taken as needed. If taken regularly and a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose. Do not double the dose.

Overdose
Overdose may cause severe diarrhea, dehydration, or electrolyte imbalance. Seek medical attention if overdose is suspected. Treatment is supportive and may include fluid replacement.

Storage
Store Miralax at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date.
