Common use

Diclegis (doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine) is prescribed for the management of moderate to severe nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. Doxylamine is an antihistamine that reduces nausea signals, while pyridoxine (vitamin B6) helps support normal metabolism and further reduces nausea.

Dosage and direction

Diclegis tablets are taken orally, usually at bedtime, and gradually increased as directed by a healthcare provider. Swallow tablets whole with water. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to achieve symptom relief while minimizing side effects.

Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have asthma, glaucoma, seizure disorders, or urinary retention. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how Diclegis affects you, as it may cause drowsiness.

Contraindications

Do not use Diclegis if allergic to doxylamine, pyridoxine, or any component of the tablet. Avoid use in combination with other sedating antihistamines without medical advice.

Possible side effect

Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or mild gastrointestinal upset. Serious side effects are rare but may include severe allergic reactions or extreme sedation. Seek medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Drug interaction

Diclegis may interact with other sedatives, alcohol, sleep aids, or medications that cause drowsiness. Inform your healthcare provider about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and supplements you are taking.

Missed dose

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is close to the next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Overdose may cause severe drowsiness, confusion, breathing difficulties, or coma. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

Storage

Store Diclegis at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep tablets in the original container and out of reach of children.
