Common Use
Vetmedin Chewable is prescribed for dogs with congestive heart failure caused by mitral valve disease or dilated cardiomyopathy. It helps improve heart contractions and dilates blood vessels, reducing the workload on the heart. The medication may improve quality of life and extend survival time in affected dogs.

Dosage and Direction
The dosage is based on the dog’s body weight and is determined by a veterinarian. It is typically given twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. Vetmedin Chewable should be administered about one hour before feeding. Always follow your veterinarian’s instructions carefully.

Precautions
Before using Vetmedin, inform your veterinarian if your dog has other heart conditions, congenital defects, or metabolic disorders such as diabetes. Regular veterinary check-ups and heart monitoring are recommended during treatment. Do not use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs unless advised by a veterinarian.

Contraindications
Vetmedin Chewable should not be used in dogs with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or conditions where increasing cardiac output is inappropriate. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to pimobendan.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects may include decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or difficulty breathing. Rarely, more serious reactions such as collapse or worsening heart symptoms may occur. Contact your veterinarian if unusual or severe symptoms develop.

Drug Interaction
Vetmedin may be used alongside other heart medications such as diuretics or ACE inhibitors, as directed by a veterinarian. Inform your veterinarian about all medications and supplements your dog is receiving.

Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, give it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume the regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose
Overdose may cause low blood pressure, lethargy, or abnormal heart rhythms. Seek immediate veterinary attention if an overdose is suspected. Supportive care may be required.

Storage
Store Vetmedin Chewable at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication in its original packaging and out of reach of children and other animals. Do not use past the expiration date.
