Common use
Dexlansoprazole (Dexilant) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and to reduce the risk of stomach ulcers caused by H. pylori infection or prolonged NSAID use. It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Dosage and direction
Take Dexlansoprazole once daily, at least 30 minutes before a meal, or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole—do not crush, chew, or open it. If you cannot swallow the capsule, the contents can be mixed with applesauce.
Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, low magnesium levels, or a history of stomach or intestinal problems. Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures, kidney disease, or low vitamin B12 levels.
Contraindications
